Duke supervising Kim installing the new round pen.
The past few weeks have been very busy at the ranch! (As if the 44 equines, 1 peacock and kitties didn’t keep us busy enough!) We have construction at the property next door and a wonderful new 8ft fence being installed! Last night with the help of many volunteers we took down our previous round pen in the front and replaced it with a smaller one for now. Come out and visit us to see the changes happening! Our next Volunteer Orientation and Grooming Day will be held on Sunday February 22! For a complete list of events please visit our Upcoming Events Calendar
We've been moving the herd around due to a fence removal project at the housing development next to the ranch.
The girl donkeys were put in a different corral and they were having a blast!

It was confirmed that Einstein has 7 fractures. There may be surgeries in his future. Right now, he's on stall rest for about 2 months. He is moving remarkably well for having such damaging injuries. He was in great shape physically, with good muscle tone, and that is what has helped him survive this trauma. We'll be pampering him over the next few months.
So, in honor of Einstein, we encourage everyone to:
work out daily
tone your muscles
keep your body strong
dance before you have to get into any trailer
and be a vegetarian, like Einstein
Your heart, mind and body will feel so much better!
On Jan. 18th, while we were heading back from a Parelli Natural Horsemanship Clinic, a car slammed into the back of our horse trailer where Einstein was riding. He was severely hurt and ended up in a mangled heap on the floor of the trailer with blood, his legs facing one way and his neck and head twisted backwards. It was horrible. We suspect that he has some neck and spine injuries. He is in a lot of pain. We have had the vet out every day and we are waiting for him to get well enough so we can transport him to the hospital.
He is unable to move in his stall. We've wrapped his legs and we have put his water and food high enough for him, so he does not have to bend his ...
Baxter aka Mr. Bones came to us in early January 2015. We were notified of his condition via Facebook and someone who took him in until a permanent solution could be found. We believe he is in his late 20’s. He is the sweetest boy who has the best manners! We will continue to update everyone on his progress.
We could not save these horses if we did not have the support of our wonderful donors and volunteers! Thank you for allowing us to help them! If you want to help, please click on the Donate Now Button at the bottom of this page. Thank you.
The 3 horses that we rescued from Havasupai have been loving life at the ranch! Duke, Cinder and Dawn are putting on weight and getting to relax! Dawn had such sad eyes when we first got her into our care. She is now spunky and runs around like a mad woman when it’s feeding time. Cinder and Duke both had hooves so grown that they were curling. We have worked with our wonderful farrier and vet to correct these issues. There is still more work to do with Duke and his front hooves, and Cinder is still having some issues with her back legs but they are in much better shape than when they arrived!
This is what these horses looked like the day we rescued them from Havavsupai ...
