What a blessing that Chief was able to live his final years at Wildhorse Ranch with caring people and and other horses for campanionship. He deserved some happy times after going through the rough years that no animal should have to endure.Wildhorse Ranch staff showed him compassion and that is a wonderful thing. May God Bless you all.

I am so sorry for the loss that WHRR & the team had to go through for the loss of Chief. I have not known Chief that long March of 09 would have been a year. The short time I got to know him he was a wonderful horse. Always sweet and loved the attention he would get. Wish I got to know him years ago but was grateful for the time I got to spend with him. I’m glad I was there they day we let his spirit go running free. He will always hold a place in my heart and will not be forgotten.

Love ya Chief,
Samantha Bacon

I would like to first say that all of you are just as much heroes as Chief was. He was so well cared for and loved by all of you.

He was an awesome old guy, no matter what Charlee says ;)

Run free Chief, and watch over your brothers and sisters, we'll see you when we get there!

Love you all,
Vicki

I'm so sorry for all of you as I know your hearts are broken. But, as I was telling Rhona, at least Chief had nine wonderful years at WHRR with Kim, Rhona, Roger and all the other wonderful volunteers/founders/members. He got to experience happiness, love and respect while helping everyone who met him receive their own special blessings in return.

I'm sure the pain of losing him will never disappear, but all lives were enriched by the intertwining of hearts and spirits. He watches over you now, free from pain and fear, but still filled with love for you all.

My deepest sympathies on your loss...

Thank you Kim for taking in Chief when you did almost 10 years ago and saving his life. From the first day Roger and I met him almost five years ago, I knew my life was changed forever -- for the better. I always said Chief was the horse who changed my life. I think he did that a little bit for us all. He was a horse like no other. He did have courage, class and was a joy to be around. It was an honor to be in his presence and to help care for him. I think he was a hero to everyone. I will miss him terribly.

Kim, bless you for the work you do and the love you give to so many... Chief's with Lady, and best of all, he can see her! He will be missed.

Dear Kim

So sad. On Tuesday Dusty and I knew that Chief was not feeling well. He had his front feet stretched out and his butt up against the wall, as if to prop himself up. I thought maybe the weather was getting to him and all this week I kept thinking about him.

Kim, thank you so much for all you do, as well as all the volunteers. But you open up not only your heart but your home to these wonderful animals and you take such care. Thank you for giving him the opportunity to live his final years with a lot of love and care.

I will miss the ole fellow, but as we all know there is a very special place from him in horse heaven. And I know that he is there now and hopefully gets to met up with my two dear horses that passed on, Whiskey and Flicka. I miss them so.

I am glad he is finally at peace. Miss you ole guy.

Love, Lane

Thank heaven that Chief had you to watch over him all this time, and most especially his last hours. Always know that you did right by Chief and I hope that encourages you to continue all your good work with our four-legged friends.

Kimmie -

I'm sorry to hear about Chief - but it must have been time for him to go, and you gave him a great life at WHR. I remember cleaning his hoofies out on that training day. He was one of my favorites. I always like the comeback kids; the down-and-outers - they appreciate life and take nothing for granted. He was a classy guy, never lost his pride or dignity, and was a true inspiration. He will be missed, but he's off galloping somewhere, staking out a mare, and he can SEE her! Happy Trails, Chief!

Love,

Soozie

Chief is yet another life enriched by who you are, what you started, and what you do. Don't ever discount the incredible change your efforts have made to so many beautiful animals.

You may not be able to take away the bad things from his past, but you allowed him to live out the rest of his life in safety with honor and dignity.

It was so touching to see the Hero award video that Chief received in 2003 and it was great seeing Lady again in the video!! I’m looking at her ornament right now from 2005 that I have on my Christmas tree. At least they are now together in Heaven young again, free of pain, and with clear eyesight

Chief was One in a MILLION and I will deeply miss seeing him each week at the ranch!!
