Michael Patrick Moran

July 19, 1970 – October 30, 2019

Michael Patrick Moran, 49, passed away on Wednesday, October 30, 2019 after a brave 20-month battle against Glioblastoma Multiforme, one of the most aggressive forms of brain cancer. He is survived by his wife of 13 years Cassandra (Ernst) Moran, mother Peggy Moran, aunt Harriette Moran, father-in-law Robert Ernst, mother-in-law Rose Ernst, brothers-in-law Robert Ernst Jr. and Jonathan Ernst, and many cousins and other extended family members. He was predeceased by his father John L. Moran.

Michael was born in Fullerton, CA and grew up in Scottsdale, AZ where he attended Phoenix Country Day School. He graduated from University of Arizona with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology in 1994 and a Master’s Degree in Special Education in 1997. For over 20 years, he was a well-liked Special Education teacher at North Canyon High School in Phoenix, AZ. He put his very heart and soul into his profession, and did his best to reach every single student. In his spare time, Michael enjoyed spending time with his beloved wife Cassandra and their unique and adorable cats, reading, music, movies, and traveling. He also liked to watch sports, especially the Suns and the Diamondbacks. He will be sorely missed by all.

Michael loved cats. His wife, Cassandra, said that he would be so pleased if in his memory donations to help cats in need were made. We thank Cassandra for allowing Kitty City at Wildhorse Ranch Rescue to be part of Michael's love of felines.

I only knew Mike a short time as his Home Health Occupational Therapist, and by extension, his amazing wife, Cassandra, and their feline family. I was so impressed by Mike's determination to fight the good fight. He was an inspiring person to be around.

The world lost a very special man and all-around special human being when Mike passed away. He was such a good soul. He was a super hero special education teacher who genuinely loved what he did and wanted to help guide the children he taught. He was taken way too soon, and he was loved by many, especially his beautiful wife Cassandra. And he loved animals, especially his kitties. He left the world way too soon, and he fought with grace. You are missed, Mike. We should all lead by your example.
