"Friendship is born at that moment when one says to another, "What! You too? I thought I was the only one." - C.S. Lewis
This past weekend our Wildhorse Wish came true.
We rescued Frankie "Blue Eyes" Kasper in 2018. He was born with a cleft palate, a hernia and some blindness. Thanks to our wonderful Volunteers and Donors, we raised the funds to have all his surgeries.
We knew that Frankie would always have special needs for his environment due to his blindness, inability to be in the sun and all the quirky things that go along with being "Frankie." Because of all that, Frankie was designated a Wildhorse Sanctuary Animal. This means that Frankie remains a permanent resident on the ranch.
Our founder Kim had been searching for the perfect friend for Frankie. She thought about so many options: a gentle horse, a sheep, a goat, a mini horse, someone to keep him company and someone to play with as Frankie is just 2 years old.
Our Adoption Manager Rachel came across "Joe," a horse that needed rescue and could not believe her eyes. She found Frankie's twin. In every sense of the word. Joe also suffers from some blindness, is 2 years old, the same size as Frankie, blue eyed and cannot be in direct sun.
There was no introduction needed for these two. They became instant best buds. Since meeting, they are inseparable. They can be found nose to nose, munching on dinner side by side or enjoying some horsey play.
We are in such disbelief of this union. So grateful that Frankie and Joe have found one another and that they will be best friends for life.
So today, as we close on National Best Friends Day, this quote from C.S. Lewis couldn't be more true for Frankie and Joe.
